The top result when I Googled "transfer itunes library to new computer"

Very simple. Copy them into an external drive or USB drive then copy it onto new computer.

Why on earth do people ask questions on forums before googling? Surely it takes far more time to post a thread rather than search the answers in the first instance?

If you can't post a helpful answer, don't bother.
For your info I did Google this but there is so much conflicting info that I thought I would ask on here. I know nothing about the workings of iTunes so it is even more confusing for me.

Ronaldo - when you say copy to an external drive, exactly what do I copy cos I tried copying the music mp3s and pasting into a new library on my new laptop but that did not work as the music remained greyed out even though it was showing.

    Many thanks.

If you can't read a helpful post e.g. post #2 then don't bother posting again.

    Do you not believe Apple!

The link I posted is the instructions to do exactly what you want from Apple - the people behind iTunes. They know how to do it correctly.

Go easy guys, just because it comes up on Google doesn't mean someone knows how to follow every letter of instruction!
Tony - you're not copying just individiual files, but the entire library - that means copying the entire iTunes folder from the 'Music' or 'My Music' folder on your old computer, onto the external drive. Then from the external drive, into 'Music' on your new computer. Simple, but may take a while depending on the size of your library. Make sure iTunes isn't running whilst doing this.
  • many thanks almillar.
that now makes sense to me. will give that a go.
  • Hope I am not missing something here but WiFi sharing between two computers Win 7 & Win 8 is fairly straightforward.

I use Wifi sharing for transferring files from my computers to my Playbook.
