  • No that's the point if you read what I put originally, she opened her own account but FashionWorld screwed up the admin and put it under my name, by the time we'd realised it was too late for them to change it apparently.

She never opened my email though, not sure where you got that from, it was a catalogue through the post (letterbox) that she happened to look at once, and called up to make an account.

My mum has since paid me back for the balance though, it was only because I had the money to hand in full that I paid the balance for her. She paid me off in instalments without the ridiculous interest rates. I didn't include this in the OP as it wasn't necessary.

Fair enough, wasn't very clear from your post, even still, people claiming an account being opened in someone elses name is something that as you have found out, very hard to get fixed, I would keep an eye on your file, as if this happens again might not go so well.

I would be asking for the original form used to open the account, to see how such a mixup happened, as it seems strange how your mum never mentioned to you,on making 5 payments, receiving 1or more parcels all with your name on, and not mentioning it.
  • Sorry, I thought I had included enough detail.

As for the how the account was opened, I asked FashionWorld and they said it was done over the phone, so I asked if it was recorded/if I could hear it, but they refused.

As for the parcels/bills etc. everything came with my mums name on it, she paid the balance by logging into her account with her username they had given her etc. literally everything was in her name, but against my credit file, hence the problem. That's why she never mentioned it to me either, because she would have no reason to, to her all appeared as though she had set an account up with them, as she'd requested to.

Any way, enough of that! The issue is resolved, I know I've been lucky but I would have gotten it sorted one way or another, even if it meant taking legal action.

It's good that team and Pippa all work on a Saturday. Nothing worse than waiting all weekend.
All that glitters is not gold.
