Android problem

My wife dropped her Android tablet, smashed screen! Instead of initially going down the insurance route, I bought a refurb one.

It's all set up fine, and she wanted to tranfer her pics from the old one to the new. I'm not too clued up on the various synching methods, so reckoned to just transfer from old one to laptop, then from laptop to the new one.

However, I can't find a DCIM folder on the new one, and further, one album has appeared on the new one obviously via some form of auto synching. However, although this album is there in the Gallery, and you can view the pics ok, I can't find where it/they is/are in the file/folder system.

So..........where's the DCIM folder disappeared to? I've tried to Google it, but what comes up talks about a deleted DCIM folder and it's linked with recovering pics from the deleted DCIM folder. Well the album which has appeared, all the pics can be viewed.

Thanks in anticipation.
David.

You could download the ES File Explorer app from Google Play and then search the files on your new tablet in detail.

It probably hasnt got a DCIM folder as it will be created when you take first picture on the new device.

The old pictures can be put anywhere, just create a folder called pictures and put them in there, it doesnt have to go in a DCIM folder. But if you have transferred them already and dont know where they are then look in the file explorer or hook it up to pc.

Thanks for your help folks, took a couple of pictures and hey presto, a DCIM folder appeared.

Dragged the relevant pics from the old tablet to my laptop, then into the DCIM folder on the new one, and they're all there now.

So thanks again for your help. :T
