Does anyone do a proper comparison?
I had a notification from the Cheaper Energy Club that I would be a few quid better off switching tariff ahead of the end of my fix in September 2015. Okay, look into the details it seems nPower might be cheaper by a whole £12/year. But I'd also get cashback to add to that. Tempting...
But then I looked into the detail of how it had been worked out...

Hmmm. It's assumed I've left things be and not switched to another good deal at the end of the fix and instead remain on the same suppliers standard tariff. Well, duh, of course it's going to be more expensive than switching to another good deal here and now. The closer it gets to September the more it'll skew and better deal it will look to switch.
That's about as useful as a chocolate teapot in a PPI claim firm's lawyer's estate agent's office.
Are there any comparison sites that actually do a sensible job of this and either compare the total cost to the end of the fix period, or just assume I'll find a deal about the same as I've got at the moment and extrapolate that out over the year for comparison purposes? Either would be better than the drivel I'm getting at the moment. Or do I need to dig out my own spreadsheet and do it all manually?
Kinda feels like a gap in the market, but of course all these comparison sites live on people actually going through with a switch so it wouldn't end well. Not impressed with MSE going down the same track. What a waste of time.

The results are still in the correct order of price - it is just the savings you have to watch out for and whether to switch now or later.0

Uswitch and Energy helpline show results using both methodologies (savings against current tariff/saving against doing nothing and moving onto a standard tariff)0
