Boiler servicing...

Hi All,

I am a bit new to all this as we have bought our house recently so please bear with me..

We have an almost new boiler (Vaillant, getting to 1y commissioning date very shortly) which obviously needs servicing to maintain the 7y warranty..

What would be a typical cost of that and what does it normally include?
I guess there is not much that actually needs doing with such a new installation (it has been barely used over the past 6 months).

Is Homeserve even worth considering? You can get a £2PCM cover which includes the service so this would work out £24 just for the service.. sounds a bit too cheap to me..

To maintain the warranty are there any requirements on 'who' should service the boiler?

but the primary requirement is that a registered Gas Safe Engineer does the work.

I pay £45.

Service is checking pressure, taking the front off, looking for any signs of incomplete combustion, emptying the sump of grit and refilling and checking combustion emissions. Takes about half an hour.
