Im putting an induction hob into a 40mm thick oak worktop, I have the spec for the correct size appature to cut but this leaves the "Glass" part of the hob sat on the surface of the oak, hence proud, Are their any problems routing out around the hole to the depth of the "glass" so that the hob surface is flush with the worktops?

There shouldn't be a problem, just ensure that there's plenty of clearance underneath the induction hob as they need plenty of ventilation.0

Have seen this done and is possible.
The only other advice I would give is that you leave a small gap around the hob with a bead of silicone to allow for both heat expansion in the hob or expansion in the wood. The last thing you want to happen is for your hob to crack because no expansion has been allowed for.0 -
good point cddc, it seems to make more sense as pans then cant be swung into the edge of the top plate chipping it
now to decide if i get a man in to do the worktop cutting (corner join, belfast sink and hob) or buy a router and jig and learn quickly!0 -
What would support the hob? (sorry if I'm being dense).0

It will be supported in the normal way, just a bit lower.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
