what a load of bollox - he has to have his concerns verified at the time of exit through the inventory (is there one op) contractually it says he has 10 days - it was 11 - dispute it 1st on this basis then through inventory 2nd if there is one0

But it's not a debt, it's our money and surely the onus is on him to prove that he has genuine reasons for making deductions.
The deposit is a way to avoid court. If you caused more damage than the deposit, the LL would pursue the remainder set thru court.
Similarly if arbitration cannot decide the issue, court would be next0 -
nothing has been proven yet, so cannot chase an imaginary debt
if deposit isnt protected the tenant will be chasing him in the courts0 -
The deposit is protected though. It's registered with TDS.
I think it's unlikely that the LL would try and make further claims 6 years down the line as he/she will need to submit evidence now to the TDS arbitration to justify any deductions.0 -

That has no bearing on the legal aspect of chasing a debt0 -

I agree, just playing devils advocate. Think it gets forgotten sometimes that court can happen0
