Am I right in thinking I can reject a parking charge notice due to it being ridiculously overexaggerated?
I parked in an empty car park for 2 hours. The car park does not charge for parking. I returned to my car, with the notice on the windscreen, and the car park was still empty.
Isn't charging £160 for the 2 hours slightly ridiculous? Is it unlawful? I thought they could only charge for loss & costs of issuing charges?

yes its ridiculous
its not "unlawful" or "illegal" as there are no laws or regulations that apply for these charges, just the usual laws on contracts etc, and pofa 2012 for england and wales
read the NEWBIES sticky thread and all will be revealed
as a member of the BPA they have a trade body limit of £100 , not £1600 -
£160??
UKPC are a BPA member so they are advised to cap the charge at £100 (although are they referring to future admin charges that they might add on?).
Anyway, this is easily defeated by appealing to UKPC and then to POPLA. Read all about it in the Newbies sticky thread at the top of this forum.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Can anyone explain to me what I do? I've tried reading through the newbies thread but it just sends me dizzy.

Well it was written to 'explain to you what to do' so try going back and following it. Take your time and apply each step to your circumstances. There's no point anyone explaining anything as all they'll reiterate is what is written in the newbies thread.0
