what is the difference between digital zoom and optical zoom? :confused:

    Zooming using optical zoom doesn't lose the quality in the photo.
    Using digital zoom does. It makes it bigger, but you lose quality in the image.

    The higher the numbers in both, the closer you can zoom in.

    start, run, magnify will show you what a digital zoom looks like.
    I'd completely ignore digital zoom specs when choosing, it's a gimmick.

    Optical zoom is magnification using the camera's lens. Digital zoom is software magnification of the image made with the lens. As said before, ignore digital zoom, as you lose image quality, and the same effect can be acheived using any image editing program.
