Wireless mobile phone monopod

This may seem a silly question but I don't know so wonder if anyone can help me? I bought for friend overseas a wireless mobile phone monopod.....does it contain a battery? There is a USB lead in the box. I ask because the Post office won't accept anything with a battery for air mail. I would appreciate any advise. Thank you.
