Selling car and Dvla tax refund

  • I don't see how this would work without SORNing them.
If the car is sold on the 30th then the new owner needs tax for November.
If the car is sold on the 1st then the old owner needs tax for December.

Technically and legally yes, but practically speaking I don't believe the DVLA systems would pick it up, which is why I also included the 'correct' way using SORN :)
  • A partial refund is the only fair system. As stated in this thead you were never able to get a partial refund but the system has changed. You can longer sell a vehicle with tax/RFL where neither party lost out. What looking_forward states is true, DVLA receives double payment for the same month.

I do not believe a partial refund is difficult logistically, I have just had a partial refund for council tax. I see no reason not to implement this other than to create more revenue.

    Thanks for your post looking_forward
