Wheres cheapest for perennial plugs

Hi, We just moved house last year, so we are just getting around to sorting out the garden now. Does anyone know any cheaper websites where I can get perennial plugs? Also, what types of plants does Aldi sell and when, as I haven't had a garden before, all I have noticed is the larger fruit/bay trees that they have at the entrance. Thanks

The term 'plugs' covers a multitude of different sized plants and all will do better if grown-on in pots first, rather than placed direct into a garden.

Smaller plugs, which will be the cheapest, may not make it at all if just planted straight out.

The question to answer is therefore what sized plugs and how many of them can you cope with, rather than where's cheapest?

Also, related to this, is to decide when you want them. The big sheds, supermarkets and on-line sellers will offer plants when they think they can shift enough of them, but this might not coincide with when it would be best to buy them. Conditions like a cold spring will not influence those outlets at all, as their season is planned over a year ahead.

This page from an on-line seller gives some indication of what's involved, but I can't recommend them because I don't buy plants this way:

Yep, just search this forum for the anger and disappointment of folks who have bought 'plug' plants and received seedlings in a thimble-sized plug of compost.
