If your PC/laptop is USB 1.1 only then that's the fastest it will do USB transfers, even from a USB 2 device.

What make+model is it, & how long have you had it for?

Unfortunately, this tends to happen with USB flash drives - eventually they slow down with age &/or intensive use. But as it seems to have happened relatively quickly(?) in your case, I'm guessing it's not a very good make.

For quicker transfers, one thing I've noticed that works for me is to create an encrypted partiton using TrueCrypt & transfer files to & from this partiton. E.g. a single 50Mb file transfer is done in around 2/3 of the time. Small files (bookmarks/URLs) do excellently well, taking only a 10th of the time or less!*

The only hassle is that this partiton has to be mounted each time it needs to be used, & doing this each time may defeat the wonderful convenience of these useful little devices. G

*If willing, I'd like someone who uses TrueCrypt & owns a USB flash drive to try this & let us know if this 'strange' phenomena also happens for you! Test with at least 1000 URLs if possible (I did for 7000+)

make sure the drivers for the usb slots are up to date...i noticed my usb transfers were slow and it was because the drivers were still with 1.1
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!
