Russian Ruble

A bit of a technical question.
I'm off to Russia in June. With the state of the economy, what are peoples thoughts on getting my Russian currency now.
It has tumbled against the pound recently (now at 96RUB-1£ / a few months ago 60RUB-£1).

if you can get some only get a small amount to cover your arrival etc and then use a card when you are over there"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0 -
I am going to have to get some at some point!
Yeah, prob right. It could get even weaker in the next 5 months I suppose.
Thanks0 -
I probably way out of date, but when I was there, spent mostly dollars.0

Apparently it's illegal to pay / charge for things in anything other than RUB now.0

You don't "have to" get them at any point. If you insist on getting them before you travel then that's purely your choice - a choice which is largely frowned upon on here!0 -
I was there last July so a bit different now but... I would get some to cover your arrival and also take sterling to exchange out there. The exchange rate on the ground was far better than using the ATMs and there are exchange places everywhere busy. This was Moscow, not sure where you will be. I didn't find it particularly pricey anyway, roughly same as London.0

Didn't realise the tube was 30p per journey:cool:
Change a small amount to cover bus fares\metro tickets and then use a card for the rest.0 -

Well it says that it's about 42p per journey (at a perfect exchange rate) right now, so last year that would have been about £1 back when they were there. Not really a huge difference.0
