We had a leaking pipe in the attic which has damaged the plasterboard ceiling in one bedroom. The ceiling has an artex finish which we think is quite old and may well contain asbestos. What I the best way to repair ghe ceiling?

Nope, have stubbed my toe doing that.
To OP, danger from suspected artex ceilings is vastly over blown
When challenged on this site , I reply tell me how many casual diy'ers have had problems...........never had a reply.
How to repair, well without a little bit more info impossible to say.
A picture would be nice.0
