    What car is it?
I'm guessing they're looking to replace the whole strut assembly and coat it in 22ct gold at that price

try reading the 1st post, may help.

The goodwill route is the way, even they don't want publicity that bad.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Don't know about this particular car, but generally speaking a strut mount (or even the whole assembley infact) doesn't tend to be a massive job to justify that price. Maybe they know something I don't

It's 1.5 hours per side, the top mount is hidden under the skuttle panel covering and that needs to be dismantled, the suspension leg removed and then the spring compressed etc

Taking into account they are doing both sides and main dealer labour rates, the price isn't too bad.

Make sure they include a geometry check with the price.

Similar noise on mine was the spring that had broken so wasn't sat in the top mount any more. This is what it sounded like

Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • @salubrious, that's really helpful, thank you. I have no ideas as to the complexities of this sort of work as my car maintenance skills extended to topping up fluids and checking the tyres. I'm such a girl...
@jimjames that noise is awful! Luckily mine doesn't sound as bad (still cant wait to get it sorted though).

    Thanks again

Op if your not getting a discount for both id be tempted to tell them to do one and
    not the other.

although if you have to pay for it I'd suggest taking it to a local garage who will charging a reasonable price
