I guess tho if the person on check a trade has 150 reviews and a 9/10 rating their more than likely good?

It's hard to know who to trust tbh

I almost always go with Checkatrade and have never had a bad experience with a tradesman I've found on there, but I read the reviews really carefully to make sure they've done a couple of similar jobs to mine. I also make sure to get at least 3 quotes.
  • So what would I buy?

    Sink
    Toilet
    Bath
    Shower
    Radiator
    Wall tiles
    Floor tiles

    Is that about it?

    .

Plus - some companies sell the basin and the pedastal separately. You'll need wastes for the basin, the bath, and the shower. Taps. You'll need a loo seat if it doesn't come with the loo. Shower comprises tray, enclosure, and actual shower. You'll probably also need some sort of caddy/shelf for shampoos etc. Radiator valves come separate from the radiator, and can be surprisingly expensive. If you want the radiator to be connected to the central heating but also useable in the summer (when the heating is off) you'll need an element. And don't forget you'll need grout for the tiles. Some types of tile also need to have sealant applied. And spacers. And edging strip.

Add in the 'little extras' - loo roll holder, toilet brush, towel rails, robe hooks, blinds or whatever for the window, and nice new towels.

Have said this on other similar threads and will repeat again here.

Work for one of the sheds (Wickes) in K&B and would give this advice if you are looking in that direction.

When using the sheds fitting service, ask the designer for their best fitter (if they are any cop they will know all their fitting teams, and will have seen all of their work) to be allocated to you. You may have to wait a bit longer, but the wait will almost certainly be worth it. The designers can request this.

Yes, in all cases the fitters are subbies. Like all subbies they vary in quality. Some meet the minimum standard, some go way way beyond it. Depending on how savvy the installation manager is there may be the odd cowboy on the books. You dont want him!
Some managers weed them out rapidly, some wait till the complaints roll in. The good designers will know who they are though.

Unless you live in London, I would say your budget is perfectly doable with any of the sheds. Depending on where you live, the difference between using a shed and an indy may be large or small. In my neck of the woods, it is fairly wide on Kitchens but much less on Bathrooms. Sometimes, we have come in at the same price or less. This is not true everywhere though!

You do have comeback if things do go wrong with a shed, which is why many people use them.
