Just had £30 from paypal to pay off my card but had to use it for back to school coats for the girls!! Never mind at least it wasn't another £30 I had to use the card for. Got some more items ending soon so hoping to pay off another £50 before end of month - also got about £80 in another account that I have managed not to spend over the school hols so if not spent that by end of next week will pay that aswell.

So will then have achieved over half this month - I am happy with that.

    How has everyone else done??

Good luck for the last 10 days xx

    Hi everyone

I don't think I will be able to clear my card by the end of the month now. I might just be able to get it down to £200.

I had an accident in my car today, some kid just ran out in front of the car in front of me and she obviously slammed her brakes on and although I wasn't that close to her, I couldn't avoid hitting her.

Fortunately nobody was hurt but my bonnet is damaged and the other woman's car is damaged too.

The kid's mother has refused to help me with my excess (all of the blame of the accident has been placed on me) as her son has epilepsy and forgot to take his medication and therefore didn't know what he was doing!! The police aren't interested as nobody was hurt and therefore I'm left with a £200 bill!!

I could just cry as all the money that is coming to me from Ebay sales and mystery shopping is going to have to go towards that now  .

I will have to add my Barclaycard to my next challenge which I will start in September. I will try my best to get it down to £200 before the end of the month though.

    Emily x
  • Aww Emily that is rotten. Sometimes you just cant get doing what you want to for life intervening. I suppose you could be thankful that no-one was hurt - still pants though. At least you will have it due to all the money saving you have been doing. :grouphug:

That's really lousy luck. If I was the mother, I'd just be so pleased my kid was ok I'd pay anything! Can you not pursue it through your insurance company, or would it be a total waste of time? She shouldn't let the flippin kid out the house if he hasn't had his medication!!!

At least you had the money and it didn't have to go onto a credit card. And more than anything, at least you managed to brake enough that you didn't shunt the car in front into the kid - you'd have felt a million times worse if you'd hurt him, at least it's only a bit of money (albeit all the effort that went with it) that's been lost.

Makes me feed sort-of guilty - I came on to say that I've completed the challenge. But it was sort-of a cheat anyway - I wanted to pay the £677 off my NatWest credit card and close it, but when we rang them today to find the exact balance they told us it was only £357 (something to do with us making an overpayment that hadn't appeared on last statement and estimated interest on a dfferent balance - don't care really!). We have managed to save up £366 so far, so we've got enough to clear it although can't actually make the payment as £147 of that is by cheque for our mobile cashback and it hasn't cleared yet. Will pay on Thursday - what a relief that'll be.

Hope everyone else has good luck and that there aren't any more nasties to spoil it. Keep going everyone, and thanks for the challenge - it kept me focused this month!

Well done for completing the challenge :D :T

I don't feel too bad today. I sold a prize on Ebay for £50 and I've got another one on there that finishes tonight that's already up to £40 so I've got quite a bit in my Paypal to transfer over. My expensive wrinkle cream is going well too and I've sold one of the free item of clothes for £5 so I may be able to pay off a bit more than I thought by the end of the month.

I'm not going to bother with the mother of that kid now, it's just not worth all the hassle to be honest. I just hope that karma works its magic in some way and they end up being £500 out of pocket with something or other!! ;)
