Hi, thinking of going to Corfu in Aug with 2 daughters 12 and 19, never been before so need some info. Ideally need a resort with shops and bars but location of hotel to be just outside so can walk in 15 mins or so. Don't want noisy and prefer hotel rather than apptmt. Sidari has been recommended to me any thoughts please?

I assume you've looked on TA?
I see there doesn't seem to be a lot of hotels, in that area, I tried using the filters and it's returning "43 Hotels" but most are apartments.

Have you asked in the appropriate TA Forum for recommendations?
At first glance at all the hotels TA is returning, they all look like apartments?
Fingers crossed someone with more info will come along to help you out.0 -
The majority of people rating this place think its good. I also see that you can ask the Hotel Rep questions directly as people are communicating with him/them on there.

We stayed in Dassia at a lovely hotel. Bus to Corfu town goes through there and from Corfu Town I'd recommend a sea trip to Albania.Normal people worry me.0

What was the hotel in Dassia called please?0

Corfu is one of my favourite places, it's a beautiful island and I would recommend it to anyone.
Sidari is one of the first places I would recommend for families with teenagers as it is one of the livelier resorts (not including Kavos which I would avoid with a family). Sidari has a long sand shingle beach with pretty calm waters. There's plenty of bars and restaurants serving Greek cuisine, british food etc. Most of the bars have entertainment such as cabaret acts, karaoke too.
Away from the main beach there is the Canal d'amour area, which is a smaller beach/cove and has some quieter bars and restaurants too.
Sidari is one of the most commercial resorts though so if you don't want overly busy it's not for you.
Other resorts I'd suggest would be Dassia, Paleokastritsa, Moraitika, Ipsos or perhaps Roda.
Most of the bigger hotels are in quieter resorts, although there are several hotels in Moraitika that I know of. (Messonghi Beach hotel, Albatross / Seabird Hotel are just a couple). Personally I would always suggest self catering or bed and breakfast as the restaurants in Corfu are fantastic, with delicious food and won't break the bank either.Lea

How times have changed. When I was there, the first thing that the reps did with new arrivals was warn them off crossing to Albania with stories of tourists being shot on the beach!
