New Car Advice Please

Hi,
I am looking for some advice please.
I put down a deposit and applied for finance on a new VW Up! I was approved for finance and due to hand in all documents today.
However, the dealership called me and explained that the car I had actually done a deal on was sold (some error with the system) and they are looking at alternative options for me. There was a similar car for a few quid more that I am trying to negotiate down to original agreed price. If they cannot or will not come down then I am going to get my deposit back and cancel the deal.
First question: Are they obliged to provide me with that specific car at that specific price or a similar car at that price? Or can they say 'we don't have it any more'?
Also if I do back out will this affect my credit score? I have been approved but not signed any official documents.
Thank you!

Mistakes happen, They cannot give you a car they dont have and i assume
the cars been registered to someone else so you wont want that now.
I would push them to find you a matching spec or better spec at the same price. I would hint at claiming for any losses on top of any returnable deposit.
No shouting and making silly demands but a gentle reminder that your time is not free and will want to claim for any losses incurred.
