Extra Energy - Six Monthly Bills

I switched to the Extra Energy ValuePlus Fixed Price Oct 2015 tariff in November 2014. I like to provide monthly meter readings so I can check my debit/credit however upon speaking to them today they advise they only provide six monthly bills.

So, currently I am £255 in credit but that is just based on the direct debit payments not usage which is calculated at the end of the six month period. I have switched many times but never encountered six monthly bills.

No doubt this was in the Terms and Conditions which I did not read....

This is a real worry as I need to monitor my consumption. I will have to try and work it out myself.

Anyone else encountered this?

A simple excel spreadsheet is all it takes.

Even when they do decide to bill you it does not arrive for 4 months !! I believe they are currently acting in contravention of their licence conditions so may be in line for a slap with a wet lettuce leaf.

We moved to EE on the 6th May and we,re STILL waiting for a bill.

The sooner our fixed rate runs out in September the better because we,re off and the only reason we,re not moving sooner is the cancellation fees.

Sorry to say but do not hold your breath receiving a bill.

It's not ever so hard to read your own meter and set up a spreadsheet to make sure you are keeping on the straight and narrow.
In fact I'd recommend it so you've got a record of what's going on when the time comes to either swap or to check a bill when it arrives.

If you don't then you'll find it hard to query or ensure you aren't being diddled. I'd also keep it for a year or so after you've left them just in case they try to slip in an extra one.
Keeping your own record is a defence against them losing or mucking up your account in the future.

It's a lot easier monitoring your own usage and its cost compared to how much you have paid than it is trying to decipher ninety percent of statements.

But you may be in luck. Ofgem have been pressing to restore quarterly billing - Extra Energy may still be small enough to not do so but npower have recently had to go back to quarterly.
