Once a hotel is booked, can they charge more?

Hi there, hoping someone will help. Asking for a friend.

She has booked a night in a hotel with a tribute night tickets included, which was advertised on their website at £154. This has all been paid for upfront. A few of her friends have booked it as well, all charged £154.

Today, someone else has gone to book it and they say the price was wrong and it is £160. I'm guessing that any new bookings will be at the new price.

my question is, can they charge the extra £6 to anyone who has already booked and paid?

thanks in advance :)

The price isnt necessarily "wrong" but prices change depend on demand. If you plot hotel room prices against time its a sort of N shaped thing. Starts off cheap to get people in, gets more expensive as it starts to fill up, shortly before if there is anything left the prices are cut again to sell them off and finally jumps back up for those doing "emergency travel" who are willing to pay "anything".

If there was a pricing error then it would depend on the terms of the contract as to if they can change the price or not. Generally for the sake of £5 (net of VAT) and on the basis you are going to be buying drinks/ food etc then most companies would be sensible and waive it, keep the goodwill and take the extra across the bar than risk cancellation or annoying people by trying to bill the shortfall even if the contract allows and have people spite you by not buying anything else from you or cancelling.
