G24 parking query sorry....

I'm new to this so apologies if I'm duplicating it, I have received a parking fine from G24 (actually it was my Son, but he's as bewildered as I am), he has received through the post a letter from G24 with a photograph of his car supposedly illegally parked in a disabled bay, encountering a fine of £100, he was actually doing a kind favour and was driving me to the shops as I was having a bad couple of days, I suffer from a range of physical problems which make walking difficult, and also have fibromyalgia, which has the effect of lack of concentration & poor memory, I swear we put my blue badge in the window when I got out of the car, I have never forgotten it before, but they say it wasn't on show, assuming the worst and I didn't put the badge on show I feel I have nowhere to go with this, I am absolutely worried sick, hardly slept last night worrying about it, I cannot afford to pay £100 as I had to give up work last year due to my disability, I cannot expect him to pay it, he cannot afford to either, they say in the letter that if I do not pay up in 28 days (date of offence 18th December, he rec'd the letter a couple of days ago as the registered keeper), they will send on to debt collector, I have read a lot about G24 all negative comments, but I am afraid to ignore it. Please can anyone help me???
Thanks to the kind person who pointed me to this new thread, as I said I'm new to this and not very teccy, apologies for not naming you but I clicked on new thread from your message and am unsure how to get back to it without losing everything but thanks again, if anyone can give me and constructive comments or advice I would be sooo grateful, many thanks form reading this.

For Gawd's sake calm down! It's only G24!

    1. It's not a fine, it's merely an unenforceable speculative invoice.

    2. He probably will get increasingly-lurid letters from debt collectors. So what? They have no more powers than you or I, utterly toothless.

    3. Blue Badges have no meaning on private land. As a person with protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 you are entitled to have "reasonable adjustments" made for your disability whether you display a Blue Badge or not.

    4. Have you contacted the landowner yet to complain about this harassment of a disabled genuine shopper?

    5. And your local paper?

    6. As for G24, they've never taken any action over any of their fake parking fines beyond a few stroppy debt collectors'letters, after which they invariably crawl away with their tail between their legs.

Can't read the big block of text with no paragraph spacing, sorry. But it's ONLY G24 who we have ignored for a decade!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi CouponMad, thanks for at least attempting to reply to my post, in a nutshell it's my failure to display my blue badge on a local retail park, snapped by G24 who inist I pay £100 or else, everyone is saying don't pay which is comforting but still a bit wary if I'm honest.
I contacted BMPA who suggested MSE and named yourself as 'someone with a lot of exp[erience in helping with this sort of aggressive abuse' quoted by them.
I have just watched the watchdog youtube video with the solictor saying make a paper airplane out of it, but I see that was back in 2011 and I thought the law changed 2012?
Any further or confirmative advice would be really appreciated.

the law changed in england and wales in 2012 - that part is true

your BB is not relevant on private land, its the Equality Act 2010 that protects you

even if debt collectors become involved you can ignore them, just keep the paperwork in a file for 6 years (the statute for a small claim in england and wales)

if G24 ever decided to take it further , they should send you an LBC, and then an MCOL, its those that you would have to deal with

in the meantime , complain to the landowner as loudly as possible to get it cancelled

and a word of advice, in future, space your post out by pressing the return key a couple of times, like you can see in my reply, makes it easier to read and isnt hard to do

post #2 did tell you everything you needed to know

    good luck
