Business Link is not there for everyone. If you live in certain areas e.g., posh, not deprived etc., they will not help you as they won't be able to get the funding for it. This is what they told me last week.

I think that was our problem (if we knew it was a rich area we never would have moved here lol, we certainly aren't!!)

    Hi Pixiepie,

I've been looking at these types of books myself - how do you know if the 'Dummies' book is the uk version and what exactly is the title of the one you found was useful, as there are a few different titles 'Starting a business', 'Online business', 'Small business', 'Home based' etc.

I was going to order one of them, so it would be useful to know which you found useful and how to tell if it is a uk version.

    Thanks.

Sorry I haven't been on this board for a couple of days so didn't see the post - I got Starting a Business for Dummies (Paperback)
by Colin Barrow (Author) from Amazon, as it covers lots of things, but if you want just online advice the book that lavender girl got is great, as are the books for restaurants etc etc in the dummies series (IMHO). If it's on the UK amazon site (ie the prices are in £ not $ :) ) and is not on the last few pages of your search for 'business for dummies' it's the UK version. If you can search inside and it starts talking about $ it's the US version, but if you're on the .co.uk amazon site, it'll be the UK one (and hey! if it all goes wrong you can send it back :) ).

I just looked on amazon to be honest and looked at those I could search inside of mainly taking a chance on the others, but as I said above, you can always send them back if you dont like them so it's not really a huge issue methinks.

Hope that helps, and good luck :)
