Adding google play to amazon-based tablet

Hi all

I've been given a friends Amazon-based table to try and get Google Play onto it.
I've trawled the web and followed a few bits and pieces but I can't seem to get it to install correctly.

The tablet is a Gemini gemq1020 if that helps.

I can get Google Play to install but it minimizes as soon as it's opened.

If anyone has any idiot-proof ideas on how this can be achieved, I'd be very grateful.

I've been on there and followed the instructions but it doesn't but that's when the Play Store doesn't stay open long enough to do a search.
The tablet is using Android V4.1.1 if that makes any difference and I can't see any way of updating it without rooting it (which I don't want to do as it's not mine).

Check you have enough memory to run it. Maybe delete some files.

As far as I can see (but I'll need to check), the tablet is almost empty (as far as files go).

I'll check when I get home and update.

I checked the tablet last night and it's virtually empty. Very few apps and loads of free space (can't remember how much though).

    Anyone?

the main problem with the amazon based stuff is that they may not include the google services you get with normal android phones. So as a result, certain apps, like Google Play that rely on those services being there wont work correctly.

Google and Amazon had a bit of a fight when the Nexus 7 was released, basically Amazon refused to sell it (it competed with their own device), Amazon also broke their own app so that it would not work on the Nexus 7 (very mature), but some people got it working by tricking it into thinking it wasn't a Nexus 7.

The two are not friends and I can understand if the Google play app won't install on an Amazon device, effectively your hitting their profit margins by taking your business to Google play.
