Atypicalblonde - I still have my parents wedding album and they divorced 37 years ago! My reason is, it is part of MY history. From that marriage came my brother and I. I'm also into genealogy so perhaps that adds to it. They WERE happy back then. Obviously I don't keep it on show :rotfl: but it is stored with the rest of my photo albums.
I've not got round to Kondoing photos yet but I already know that album will be staying.

Welcome to the thread ! :T

My best buy was a lovely doulton plate from the CS that I was going to use as a fancy biscuit or cake plate. But then I decided it fitted better on my deep bathroom sill and holds all the face washes and other bits.

I use old bits of china for this kind of thing. Saucers for soap dishes, china mugs for toothbrushes etc. Nothing precious, so it doesn't matter if they get broken, but it's nice to have pretty things.

Am I the only person who is sad enough to be waiting for the next update in GQ's holiday saga? Probably... I'm busy procrastinating as I should be either working or doing some tidying away of stuff that I may need to move for the builders...

Did the fridge at the weekend...binned 3 jars of beetroot (one frozen solid ), piccallili which was smelling a bit iffy, and dregs of mayo & salad cream, various unused salad dressings.....it was a mine of out of date stuff, and much as I hate to chuck out food.....I had no option.

Confession...the fridge was up too high...there was a jar of BBQ marinade (date unknown) frozen horizontally to the back of the fridge :o I needed to use the hot water bottle to dislodge it, and the wall of ice at the back.

It's looking much cleaner now! :)

:) Riiggghhhhhttttt, progress has been made. I have now retreated upstairs as Dad had just given up the pooter where he was doing genealogical research (an ancestor was done for receiving a stolen pig, oh the shame of it. Pretty easy to hide a stolen pig on a farm, I would imagine :o;)).The rest of the household are watching summat on telly since 9 pm and I am catching up with youse guys.

Firstly, mags gone through. The town news magazine and the charity mag are in the recycling bin and the rest are prepped for the GP surgery. I might even take them myself to make sure they go. They're in a bag in the porch labelled OFFER TO GP SURGERY but from past experience with these three, even such a clear and agreed-upon directive can be overlooked for months at a time.:rotfl:

A cone of yarn is heading out, and I have been 'allowed' to take possession of my cassette storage chest-of-drawers, the one I fished out of the skip. Mum agreed that it would be helpful not to have it back on top of the record cabinet at the foot of the stairs as it was a bit cluttery and its absence would leave room for other Stuff - we exchanged comedy eye-rolls and giggled at this point, recognising the unlikihood of the cargo of clutter on top of the cabinet being much less without it.. You have to laff.

So, that will come to my flat when the parental car next comes up to the city, as will a large bag of old tights, to be offered on freecycle for anyone with a yen to stuff a menagerie of home-made soft toys (if no takers will go for ragging). Plus she suddenly recalled that she can't wear any of her pre-mastectomy bras.

:D This is where you lovely people can help. I know, somewhere on MSE, possibly on this very thread, there was mention of a charity which can take unwanted bras in good nick. Has anyone got the details, please? We're on a roll and if I can get them jiffy-bagged and mailed out in the next 48 hours there's a chance they will leave the premises.

This small 3-bedroom terrace has been getting more and more stuffed in the past 45 years and I need all the help I can get to start un-stuffing it.

Bras for Africa seems to ring a bell, and several hits come up on google search, was that the one?

Smalls for all is the one I recall best. Address for gently worn bras for donation is Smalls For All
    108 Buchanan Crescent,
    Eliburn, Livingston, EH54 7EF.

I dropped a bag of bits and a bag of ragging at the CS today and saw one of my previous donations on the shelf. It was nice to see someone else pick it up and show it to their OH and say how about this? And then take it off to the till :j :j

I read the book and wasn't in the right frame of mind to begin my Kindo journey so sent it back to the library.

I've picked several things up just lurking here so when DS starts nursery next month I hope to be ready to start and have the headspace to do it properly.

I have been folding DD and DS tshirts in the Kondo way for a while now and I have one of those folding whatsits so long that the hinge has broken and is held together with gaffer tape :D. Anyway, I digress! Why do I fold my children's and husbands tshirts and tops but not my own? Am I not worthy of nicely folded tshirts? Not sure why I have resisted it as I really like looking at the kids drawers. Hopefully when I have a quiet hour (ha!!!) I will try to fold my things.

I've been dropping bits at the CS for a while now and have hoarded piles of clothes that DD has grown out of for the next NCT nearly new sale which is in a month. This will clear a huge space in the loft ready for me to tackle boarding it :T
