Hi there
My Nan's boiler has broke , she has no heating and not enough money to replace it .
Is there anywhere she could get grants or some help that you know off ?
I spoke to the local council (havering) who passed me onto to somewhere but they gave said a minimum of three weeks for someone to come out and asses wether she can get help it not .
In the meantime she had no boiler
Any help appreciated thank you

Can you help her temporarily by lending her portable heaters, gas or electrical, or is there a family member who can have her to stay until her heating is sorted out?
I can't advise on available grants.0 -
Why do you think that it needs replacing. At the very least, it needs to be looked at by somebody qualified first.
You can't seriously expect someone to come along immediately and replace or repair it free of charge.
As someone has already said. The answer is temporary heaters. Cheap to buy but not cheap to run.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Hi yes my nan won't come and stay with any of us , she is disabled and can't get out on her own so stays indoors most of the time .but I have purchased her some portable heaters but she isn't turning them on much as she says it drys the air out and affects her breathing ,
She has copd.
We have had an engineer out to look at it and they quoted just under £500 to fix it but said it really was not worth fixing .
And yes there are schemes which help the elderly , the last one she used around ten yrs ago was warm front , no it wasn't free she had to put some money towards it . But they no longer do it.
So yes to sum it up I was hoping someone would know of some valid schemes at the moment ,that wouldn't take three weeks just to come look and up to a further 12 weeks to get the job done .now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
What make and model is the boiler, and what did the engineer say was wrong with it?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
