deferring a mortgage style loan once started repaying

I was a student from 1996-99 and took out the full student loans, but so far have not earned enough to start repaying. I think two of the loans are now with Erudio and one with Thesis, and following the drop in the repayment threshold to around £26K, I will have to start repaying in April. Obviously the threshold is going to rise quite considerably when its calculated again in September(?), so if I am then earning less than the revised threshold, can I immediately ask to defer again in September, or must I wait the full year until April? I can’t find an answer regarding this anywhere.
