    Plunt,

Went to the branch and do some stuff.

While I'm there, I asked a variety of staff, and they didn't know anything about it.

It would be good if Barclays offered a similar account to santander, lloyds and natwest etc.

Cashback from various retailers it's not the best incentive.

    Their website needs clarifying!
What are Rewards? 5.00 Rewards = £5.00 when redeemed

Surely they dont mean 5 Rewards!? But 500 rewards?
  • Any more info on this possible new account?
  • Any further leads here?

Barclays recently ruled out an interest paying current account. They reckoned customers would save more through its 'SmartSpend' Cashback scheme compared to an interest paying current account.

But the only SmartSpend offer I've received so far is 5% cashback on Expedia.

July 2014: Barclays' retail head Ashok Vaswani confirmed it won’t be paying ANY interest on money customers have sitting in their current account, for the time being at least. Current account holders would save more through the SmartSpend Cashback than they’d earn in interest from other banks
