Help with deposit

Hi guys,

I am wondering if there is anywhere I can turn to for help with a deposit to move into rented accommodation? Very long story short, within weeks I will have nowhere to live (Being asked to leave the family home) and I do not have the deposit in place. I have always planned to move at the end of March when I had the money but now I have no choice and I have till the end of Jan.

I have no chance of getting a loan (Already tried a £1000 loan with bank and have a small CC which cannot be increased)

I work full time and earn a good wage but cannot find the money by the end of the month. Is there anywhere that could help me out with this? I know charities help with people in receipt of benefits, but is there help for people who are work and are about to be made homeless?

Check with your local council. Some do deposit guarantee schemes and various other things.

Is that for people who work? All I can see is that it's for people who are in receipt of benefits and are privately renting.

It varies from council to council so I don't know if it applies to where you live. If you're facing homelessness you should contact the council anyway to see if they can help you.

Unfortunately when I contacted them regarding being made homeless (Not about help with a deposit) the lady asked if I was unemployed, to which I said no. She then asked if I had any children, to which I said no and she snorted/laughed and said that there was nothing she could do as I was not a priority.

I have emailed my local council to see if there are any deposit loan schemes that they do for people in my situation. Thanks for your advice.

What about your employer? Do you think they would advance you some money to cover the deposit?

I have already tried that route unfortunately and received a very stern 'No and don't ask again' telling off!
