The timber cladding on the formers is looking very patchy, and I want to replace it. Getting the wood is straightforward - is this a DIY job?

I suggest that you don't use wood. Get a reproduction material that will come self coloured and never need any maintenance. Except possibly an occasional hose down.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Not sure about the longevity of the upvc - Jeff Howell in the DT put me off - and the cost. I am looking at about 6 suare mwtres only of cedar which will probably come in at around £250 - £300. Price for decent upvc seem are way higher.0
