Moving OE Emails between computers.

A bit of background, so you will understand why I'm asking, what I'm asking.
I've just bought a new PC (Win 8.1), so the old XP one will be factory reset and passed onto a relative/friend.
Thing is, I have a lot of email on it, in OE.
Fortunately, I have an elderly but working, XP Netbook, onto which I can move the email accounts and the emails themselves
Now to my questions.
1. Where, in XP, will I find the folders containing the emails.
2. Given the Netbook has a tiny SSD drive (8GB if memory serves), and precious little free space, can I change the location of the email folders (and of course, where new emails are stored) to an SD Card in the card reader? If so, how do I set it up?

Go to the settings option in OE. Go to the maintenance tab. Go to the store location option. It will tell you the current location where your mail is stored. You can then find it in Explorer and copy the mail.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »1. Where, in XP, will I find the folders containing the emails.
See above for the storage location option. You can change it to wherever you want.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »2. To avoid the netbook you could just set up a mail client on your new computer (built in or third party) and import all the mail you have copied from the old computer. The emails themselves are in a standard format that any mail program will be able to understand.0 -
Another question, if I may.
If I transfer a couple of Hotmail accounts, currently set up on my (Win 8.1) laptop, to my new computer, will Live Mail download all the emails from the accounts to the new computer, or only those I haven't previously received?0 -
Depends on how you have set up your access to hotmail on the 8.1 laptop. If it was POP then the answer is possibly. If its IMAP then the answer is yes.**
So best to use IMAP when you access mail on mulitple devices.
Question. What mail client are you using under Windows 8? Whatever you do, don't use the freebie Mail app. Its horrible.
**EDIT. I will clarify. If you use IMAP you will see your email on all devices BUT it doesn't "download" the email to your computer. (IMAP mail is stored on remote mail servers).
With POP when one device accesses the mail at the remote server it will "download" it to your computer and MAY leave it on the remote mail server for other devices to access OR IT MAY NOT.0 -

I'm using Windows Live Mail on the laptop.0 -
Emails now transferred to new machine. :j
I'm one step closer to re-installing the old machine, and passing it on to a friend.0
