  • why cut it just roll it back on itself it doesn't matter if you have an extra layer for a couple of feet
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Have you contacted British Gas to see if you're eligible for their free loft insulation scheme? You don't have to be a BG customer and you don't have to own your home either as it's open to tenants with the landlord's consent.

BG says that 90% of people who apply are eligible though sadly we weren't. In our case it had to do with the angle of our roof coming down too steeply over the top of our first floor rooms which meant the level of insulation they put in would be too likely to cause condensation on our sloped ceilings.

Yep, it was British Gas that said my loft was not high enough for their health & safety. And I have solid walls so no free wall insulation. Doomed to freeze to death!

Thanks for suggestions will probably order something soon :)

Because that could obstruct vital ventilation at the eaves? Better to cut the insulation there at an angle.

That doesn't look like's sealed? Or do you think I should just get a mask and gloves and go for it and not bother with stuff that's wrapped up?

I've never bothered with the gloves and haven't found the unwrapped stuff that bad to work with. I think some people may be more sensitive to it than others.
