This is misleading - I'm a new PIP claimant but realistically should have claimed at least 12 months prior. I was put off by posts such as yours and having been rejected in the past.

I struggled unecessarily thanks to posts such as yours constantly stating that it was nigh on impossible to obtain.
Hey, I'm sorry if my post depressed you. But the truth is the truth, the facts are the facts whichever way you dress it up.

Maybe my case was a one off, I don't know, but I still find it incredible to accept that my previous DLA awards didn't warrant just a couple of points as a consolation prize.

Hey Andy, you wouldn't know the truth if it came up and hit you in the face.

Is this your consolation prize, to come on here upsetting genuine claimants with your fictitious tales?
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

racon you screwed up, please dont make suggestions of what people should do as you will cause people stress and upset, having read some of your posts you have raged about disabled people getting free cars and free money, you really do sound bitter, please stop taking it out on others, you didnt appeal in time, if you felt dwp were right then stop wittering on.

Roger Black on the other hand has a lot of respect on here for being accurate, and helpful, please dont misguide people here, i know you are bitter about what happened to you, dont try and get other people to make your mistakes, Hey

Hey, wait a minute. Everything I have stated in post 10 and 12 is factually correct. I'm not bitter, just annoyed how the system seems to be geared to get people off benefits. That is correct I didn't appeal in time as the contents of the letter from the DWP was very misleading. It read that I had to wait for the consideration of Attendance being granted bearing in mind that they used the PIP form to look at it. It certainly wasn't clear to me that there were going to be two decisions, PIP & Attendance. To me I took it to read that the whole thing was part of one big claim/review. Maybe if the DWP had told me what could happen if I continued with claiming PIP in the first place (not everyone knows the ins and outs). In the second, maybe if the DWP wrote letters that were clear and could not be misinterpreted it would help and finally if the DWP (as they have been instructed to do so) could contact the health professionals that I listed on the form to ensure that they get the full picture and evidence to back it up.
I certainly am not misguiding anyone, I have and will continue to point out what the facts are and actually what happened. Maybe with people now knowing what happened to me, they would be more aware of the pitfalls to avoid.

we need to hear all experiences even the bad ones.
  • My postcode on the pip map is white, no dates given my award runs until 2018 but I take it I could be reassessed anytime from now? I have epilepsy and have seizures 6/7 times a week from what I have read it's likely I will lose my award..not sure it's worth applying and enduring all the stress tbh

I have to admit that I have read a lot of horror stories, not just on MSE but elsewhwhere about people having been on DLA and losing everything when having to apply to PIP. Some of them have had long term awards and have clear disabilities to boot. So I do think there is some credence in these cases but at the same time I accept that it is not necessarily the same in everyones case.

As someone who has been on DLA for 7 years and faced 4 reassessments and the first 2 going to tribunal before seeing my award increased and made indefinte last June, I dread the thought of having to go through the process with PIP, whenever that day comes.

It is apparent that Government figures are set to take away a set number of claimants awards to meet budget restraints and there is a lot of concern still as to whether the process is fair, or set up to fail a lot of people. I accept that it did need to be tightened up but it has gone too far the other way now, in my view. The net result leaving a lot of vulnerable people with clear disabilities suffering as a result.

Hey, I claimed for PIP and had my indefinite DLA High mobility & Middle care taken off me after having it for 20 years with regular reviews and assessments! In return the DWP told me that I did not have any disabilities after giving me '0' points all round.
You will continue to get DLA until they either decide that you can have an award of PIP or you fail to get any award. Best of luck, it seems to be true that they are trying to get as many people as they can off disability benefits one way or another to save money.

The success rate for DLA to PIP transfers, before any appeal is currently running at 79%, which is actually pretty high, for a new benefit.

Success rate for new claimants in 55%, before appeal.

The ones having the most trouble appear to be those on low rate DLA, probably because there are only two rates on PIP.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

My son was receiving mid level DLA for quite a few years. Had PIP interview in November. Got letter yesterday saying he's not entitled to anything now!

He has a long term medical condition that will get worse not better over time and unfortunately its never going away :(

I'm going to appeal the decision, I feel we have nothing to lose! Its just very time consuming.

Not sure how 6 months ago his condition was seen as a disability but now with no change in his condition it isn't!

We were told that we had to claim for PIP before a certain date or benefits would just be stopped, so we had no choice about applying.
