Insignia Core Plug replacement cost

Hi all,
My insignia broke down on New Years Day (Happy New Year!), and the RAC man advised that he thought the core plug had gone, probably corroded.
It is in the garage today to get looked at, I just wondered if anyone had a view of what I could expect to pay, so I know if it is a reasonable fee or not...

Depends entirely on access to that particular core plug. If it can be got at easily, an hour or two's labour. If it needs the engine out to get at...

If one has corroded, the rest maybe going the same way. At the very least, one of the manifolds may have to come off....

How can a car as modern as an Insignia have corroded core plugs, it must have had the correct coolant from new and in the event of a new water pump or rad or hose being needed only a lunatic would refill with plain water.

One might have become dislodged for some reason, a quick perusal of the leak site should tell you how bad this job is going to be.

Anything from a 20 minute dig one out clean up the surfaces tap one in (unlikely), to the other extreme of a full engine out job (possible), but more likely needing the removal of pumps/manifolds/alternator/mountings/belts.

Depending on the leak and the site it might be worth cleaning up the outside of the existing plug and packing the hole with something appropriate, at least as a temporary measure, then fix it when something else needs doing that requires major work, preferably in better weather.
