Old model in my kitchen is dead and needs a replacement.

The flaps open when I switch it on but no longer do because the electric motor that controls this feature is dead.

I have cleaned and replaced similar Xpelair extractors with a pull-cord before. I'm not sure if the spares are still available? Are you sure it's not the shutters that are sticking due to grease build-up? When you switch it on, have you tried gently poking between the shutters with a blunt tool to see if they open?
If it is the solenoid/motor that opens the shutters which is faulty, you may be able to find an alternative part.
