Another little overpayment off a CC (had built up a little buffer but decided I didn't need it) because I wanted to round off my debt amount to £12900
Nice round numbers make me smile!
Does anybody else have experience with loans where they put the interest on for the whole term at the beginning? The terms on my loan say that you'll pay less interest if you overpay, would they reduce the interest balance monthly as you start making overpayments? Or would it be a case of checking near the end what your early settlement amount was?0 -
I don't know re the loan..
great news re the chair and your weekend sounded lovely!
I like round numbers too, especially when they mean that debt is decreasing!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

I don't know about the interest on the loan - I think it depends on the t&c's although I can't even work it out on my loan either! I guess the best way would be to phone them and ask
Round number are definitely good especially when the numbers are going down!!! Well done!0 -
Thanks guys... I think I will call them. Or maybe just wait and see what happens after my first overpayment!
I do keep wondering whether I should start filtering some of the overpayment money towards the loan... the snowball calculator keeps telling me to pay the two cards first, and I definitely need to pay off the Lloyds card quickly as that only has a 10 month 0%. But the Barclaycard has 0% for 34 months... and I'm paying 3.7% on the loan. All debt should be gone within 22 months so there's no danger of me going over the 34 months.
Something to think about, anyway! Maybe I'll just chuck anything I earn or save during the month on to the loan instead of credit cards, and carry on as I am with the main payments.
Life after debt is going to seem so strange! My biggest money problem (for a while, at least) will be where to keep my rapidly expanding savings! :rotfl:0 -
If you know it will be gone, I'd fling everything at the loan first.. but that's just me..DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Yeah I think you're right df1d... I think I'll clear the Lloyds card (should be done in next 2-3 months), and then just pay minimum on Barclaycard. Chuck everything at loan, and then clear the last bit on the card!
Thanks, I think I just needed somebody else to say it too :rotfl:0 -
Sounds like a plan!!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Morning everyone!
Working from home today so thought I'd give a quick update... Not much going on (and probably won't be until pay day!)
We've got our spendy trip to Brighton this weekend... will be shelling out another £179 for the hotel (half already paid) so looking to keep costs waaaaaay down for food! Baking some banana cake on Friday with some bananas I've got in the kitchen steadily blackening. Already have all of the other ingredients, so will bake a nice loaf cake and take some with us for snacking on, and leave some here for our friend who arrives on Sunday to stay with us for a month. Trying to think of a few other things I could bake up for the weekend – maybe some flapjacky-granola bars for breakfast, things like that! And can take some sarnies for the first day. Have already filled up the car with petrol so no extra spends there, and we know where there's free parking so that's covered. So it's just food and the inevitable pub trips! I'd budgeted £100 for the weekend, £40 went on petrol earlier in the month so that's £60 for eating and drinking over the 3 days, should be doable as I'm definitely not a big drinker.
In other less-than-MSE news I'm signing back up to the gym today.... I know, I know! But as it turns out, if I don't have a membership and am injured (as at the moment) I just don't do... anything. Membership is £38 on a rolling monthly contract, no joining fee and that's half price because I'm with PruHealth Vitality insurance through work. Better yet, OH has offered to offset it by paying me £40 per month towards food as currently I do all of the food shopping. So actually I'll be gaining £2 a month, result! Plus, since it's a monthly contract I'm not tied in forever and it's a 5 min walk from my house. So if you see me on here... tell me to get down the gym!
Right, time for breakfast (pancakes of course) and a shower...0 -
