Quilt is lovely Betsycat - I would love to try quilting again (did it a long time ago) and might just do that once I am finished my course. Good news on the loan interest too.
Sometimes you need a little blow out with spends but you need to keep some focus and not let it get out of control!0 -
Whoop df1d! :j
Thanks Judi! You definitely should – although it can become an expensive hobby unless you have a big stock of fabric!
You're right, of course... back in the MSE state of mind. I've been reading &s tellings off on your diary which helps!
Have had to do a bit of YNAB shuffling as I've had to find £55 for a chiropractor appointment, but seems to be alright, and I've got OH's energy bill money now so another £48.21 paid off credit card. Think that's it for extra payments 'til the end of the month unless I'm extra good with my weekly budgets!
I joined BorrowMyDoggy two nights ago and already have two doggy dates lined up for this weekend – looking forward to lovely cheap weekends spent walking and playing with my new furry friends!0 -
Thanks for the quilting advice. I'm hoping to make 2 quilts at some point thus year for dude and my god daughter for Xmas to get a but if practice in and then chop up his precious tiny clothes! I will of course show you once I've managed them.
luckily a friend of mine just moved overseas and gave me a big box full of ga ric, lots which will work perfectly for quilts. So nit much spending involved!January 2015 - LBM

Ooh it's brill df1d... if you don't already have a dog, anyway! It's for people who really love dogs but can't have them for whatever reason. We just want to take a dog for a walk occasionally at weekends!
Ooh great HarrysMummy, that's a bit of luck! Lots of fabric to practice on0 -
I looked - fascinating.. Prompted a conversation with DH about whether we would let people walk our dog if we had one!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

It's an interesting one, isn't it... Lots of people I've spoken to have been a bit baffled by it! I think it's great for some situations – so for example the guy I'm meeting tomorrow is recovering from heart problems so if anyone's willing to give his golden retriever a few extra walks he's all for it... but I think some people are trying to abuse it a bit by trying to find people who'll look after their dog in the week while they're at work. Because reaaaally, unless you can find somebody who's desperate to have a dog all week for free, you should probably pay for a dog sitter/walker.
But I think for people like me it's great – we'd love a dog but we a) can't afford it, b) both work full time and c) don't reaaaally have enough room yet so being able to borrow other people's for a walk every now and then is wonderful!
I think there's quite a few puppies on there too – people who are looking for help in wearing them out :rotfl:0 -
Now that I would pay for.. when we had a puppy, jeeeez it was worse than trying to wear the littlies out!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Howdy lovelies!
Sitting here at work, catching up with diaries, eating the sesame chicken and broccoli I made last night. Expensive chiropractor appointment this afternoon but hoping she can take a look at my wonkiness and tell me what's causing my knee injury! Can't walk more than 20-30 mins at the mo without it hurting... think it's IT band stress from running but stopped running months ago and it's not got any better.
If not, it's off to the GP for them to tell me to ice it, elevate it and see how it goes!
Had a fairly quiet weekend – did a food shop on Saturday + filled the car up with petrol, got the rest of the fabric I needed for the quilt and a couple of balls of wool for my blanket while everything's 30% off in the sewing shop... Met a friend for a walk in Wimbledon Village with a hot chocolate and got some fresh veg from a market stall on the way back down into town. Spent the afternoon tidying and had a quiet one in front of the telly!
Sunday we went to meet a lovely golden retriever (from BorrowMyDoggy) and took her for a walk, had a drink at the pub with her owner (he paid!) and then went to my OH's mum's house for a lovely roast dinner. Was thoroughly tired out on Sunday afternoon after all the fresh air!
This week is a quiet one, no plans except a drink or two on Friday night as a work friend is leaving, and a fairly quiet weekend planned – aside from a trip to Gatwick on Sunday to meet my friend who's arriving from Canada and taking his bike back to ours ready for when he arrives a week later. Need to make some room in the living room at some point as OH's mum is giving us an armchair – currently only have a 2-seater sofa, which will quickly become a little too cosy with an extra bod for a month! We're also offloading some furniture on her to store in her cellar for a little bit so that's very handy. We're so lucky to have her nearby! OH lost his dad last summer so we try and get over to see his mum (and his 10yo brother) as much as possible.
Going to try and get the quilt finished this weekend so it's out of the way, ready to take down to Brighton the following weekend and hand over to its new owners. Also trying to spend as little as possible at the moment as I know that 3-day weekend is likely to be a spendy one!
All quiet on the debt front, haven't had the motivation for eBay the past couple of weeks so might try and get one item on a night this week, scheduled to go live on Sunday. In fact I might write up the description for one now
Happy Tuesday everyone!0
