Bad_pool_header

Ive started to get this message with blue screen and my pc reboots. I have never had this issue before until maybe last week when I did a full Spybot run, Malwarebytes run and a glary's run. It just seems odd that after doing these 'cleans' my pc has started to suddenly without warning gone to blue screen and give the words

BAD_POOL_HEADER and restarts.

Ive searched the google but im no techie so im not anywhere nearer a solution at present.

I have not updated any hardware, not recently put in any memory etc etc. As I say its just suddenly started maybe the cleans are just coincidence im not sure but would like any help if anyone knows about this issue.

Cheers

Unless anyone knows anything specific to this error, it could be very hard and time consuming to diagnose this fault properly.
I assume we're talking about a desktop computer?
I assume you're monitoring your CPU and graphics card temperature?
If you've got several sticks of memory, try removing different ones to see if you've got a faulty stick. Some motherboards need them to be in pairs, but you won't break anything leaving them single. memtestx86 is a great little tool, you make a boot disk of it and it tests each address of the RAM.
If you can, stick a different hard drive (remove the important one!) and install Windows on it. If that works, you've got a software/driver problem (in many ways the easiest/cheapest problem) - back everything up and reinstall Windows!
Try putting BIOS back to defaults, but you'll want to remember the current settings first.

See if you can boot into safe mode (F8 prior to Windows loading).
If so, select a previous restore point and Apply.

Whilst in safe mode, enter System Properties / Advanced / Startup & Recovery and deselect automatic restart and Apply change.
This will not resolve the problem but will give a BSOD with an error message that may help indicate what is causing the problem.

Which operating system are you using?

Let us know how it goes.

    You won't find the cause.

I had this happen a few years back. After some investigation and replacing of components (RAM, CPU and Bios battery) I don't think I found the cause. It was an old computer anyway so it went in the bin.

I had this on Grandad's PC last month, there were several other BSOD's as well

On Nifty's recommendation, I removed the RAM and cleaned the connections with a rubber and it's been ok ...... so far!

    :)

bsod - I thought with a username like that you'd be more positive! The hardware checks, especially RAM, and the system restore is definitely worth doing, and a Windows install could fix it too, drastic as it is.

realistic, not negative. I said cause, not fix ;). Reinstall, don't tinker.

I don't believe a system restore is possible because the PC restarts itself before you can get to that stage. At least it did for me - after beeping on post 3/4 times.

Could try a bios reset jumper style if the board has the capability.

As mentioned earlier, any joy with safe mode and system restore to a restore point prior to using those cleanup utilities?
