You won't be able to get airside in Terminal 3 if you are flying from Terminal 5, so forget that idea.

If the price you pay to use them is having to fly BA they're definitely not worth it :D

Not sure this is correct. Once airide, there are buses running between the terminals, so you can use the lounge.

We went from T2 to T3 to use the lounge last June. Just make sure you leave plenty of time to get back as you will need to clear security.

It wasn't great but worth it for us to sit in peace and quiet before a long noisy flight.

I don't think this is true for T5 and T3, you have to go through security with a relevant boarding card.

OP just plan to have a nice meal at Plane Food or something to escape the airport madness for a couple of hours.

I don't think it's worth the hassle of moving between T5 and T3 (if you can), especially if the T3 lounge is one you'd have to pay for. Spend the money on food/drink in T5 instead.
  • You have to pass through security at the terminal from which you are departing so cannot go from T3 to T5 once airside.
This space has been intentionally left blank
  • Now you have got me all confused. I'm sure we boarded a bus to go from one terminal to another to use the lounge, and yes we did go through security. It was them that told us to make sure we allowed enough time to get back.

    You went T2 to T3.
Others are saying this is not possible from T5.

There are buses that interconnect the terminals including terminal 5 which are used for people in transit. I dont believe you can use it for just wanting to switch terminals for the sake of shopping or lounges etc.

Looking at http://www.heathrowairport.com/heathrow-airport-guide/flight-connections/terminal-5-international-connecting-to-terminal-3-international it says to allow 90 minutes to go from one to the other and whilst this is clearly going to have some fat built in for delays etc to go there and back again even if it is possible is going to eat up a fair amount of time.

Agree with everyone else, if you are flying from T5 and dont have a way to get into the BA lounge then just stay in the terminal and save the lounge fees to put towards some food or such

Once you're airside you can't swap terminals as you only have access to the departure areas of the terminals, you need to be in the airside arrivals area to access the airside connections to other terminals.

Obviously you can transfer and access the non airside areas of all terminals, but you can't get to the airside areas of each terminal without a boarding pass for that specific terminal.
