Leasehold garage electricity

I bought a house in Lincoln last year. There is a garage that is detached from the property (about 20 meters away). There is a flat above the garage owned by someone else.

I am regularly in the garage working out (to a video) and I have the light on and an IPAD plugged in. Therefore I am using electricity.

I asked the solicitor who pays for the electricity and he said: "you do". I wrote this down at the time.

However, I am wandering if I need to look more into this. I am worried that I will eventually get a large bill from the leaseholder. Does anyone else have experience with this?

Turn off your trip switch and see if the power in your garage goes off aswell :)

    1) What exactly does it say in your lease?

    2) Are there seperate supplies (and meters) for the garage and flat above?

    3) if not, where is the meter - garage or upstairs?

    4) whose name is on the supply account?

    5) who owns the freehold to the property? Upstairs leaseowner or A N Other?

Reading between the lines, I suspect that your supply is shared with upstairs, and upstairs is paying the bill, Upstairs may not know you are using power. Indeed, they may not even know they are paying for power consumed in the garage beneath them.....
