Credit cards now sorted, so this time next month we will know exactly where we are with these new payments on the mortgage, gas, elec, CCs, and I will of paid off my uni course fees too. Should be about £320! Then I can really start clearing some debt! February has been a good month!
think I might have a glass of wine to celebrate!

Oh, forgot to add that I have been in the greenhouse, cleaned it all out and started planting veg! Got broad beans, carrots, and cabbage in so far, growing our own saves us so much money over the year. Soon will be able to put in potatoes, beetroot, onions, lettuce and tomatoes too. I have just about got all the seeds I need, so very little to spend this year.mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0

Hi there
Looks like you've made a fab start to the debt busting.

We are very lucky to have a large garden, we only got the greenhouse last year (free from a neighbour who no longer needed it, well not quite free as it needed a couple of new panes of glass) so this year I intend to make the most of it, and have made a much earlier start.
To be honest, you dont need a huge amount of space to grow stuff, potatoes will grow in buckets!! As will broad beans and lettuce and spring onions as well as lots of other things. The buckets that supermarkets get their flowers delivered in are fab, they quite often sell them off really cheap. (8 for £1 ish) Just stick a few holes in the bottom for drainage and sorted!!mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0 -
Hi
Couldn't agree more about veg growing. We grow loads of fruit and veg in our small garden and tiny greenhouse in pots and buckets. It's amazing what can be grown in a small space. Saves money and tastes much better than anything that's shop bought£1000 Emergency Fund Challenge #92 £302.55/£1000 (30.2%)0 -
absolutely Hadalbm, the taste is so much better! Also helps to get me out of the house into the fresh air and moving about which is no bad thing either! I love getting the kids to help too. Its great that they know where some of their food comes frommortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0

So paid another £150 today, and cleared another debt to my sister in law, also managed to finish one month and start the next without going into my overdraft so very pleased with this.
Also been doing slimming world this week so its weigh in day tomorrow (im just following the plan, not going to meetings, too expensive!) so I think i have been good this week, even managed some exercise too!!
Planted a few more bits in the greenhouse, so lettuce, peppers and parsnips are on the go now.
All in all a great week!
Wish me luck for the weigh in tomorrow though, hopefully I will of lost a few lbs!mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0 -
Oh my gosh, I'd forgotten I'd started this diary 4 years ago!
It's nice to see I have made some decent progress. Debt was at £13000 when I started, we are now down to £3900 so much better.
I work almost full time now, but DH switched jobs for 9-5 instead of shift work and it's much less stressful for him but he took a cut in wages.
I feel so happy seeing how far we've come! These diaries are great.
Hopefully our debt will be gone in the next 12 months and overpayments can begin on the mortgage.
The plan is to pay it off 3 years early when I turn 50. (9 years time).
I'm going to keep posting here to inspire me to keep debt busting!mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0
