Wireless Recommendations?

Hello,

I have been wanting to get a wireless router for a while but am unsure which one I need. My ISP is BT and ideally would like one under £40-does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

Forget the cheap ones - you really do get what you don't pay for with them. Go for a Netgear DG834. Should be able to find one on Ebay cheap enough.
  • ive always favoured netgear routers over belkin and the like, in my experience theyre more stable, and you can tinker with the firmware a little bit (if thats your thing).

http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?quicklinx=2CM7 - something like that perhaps?

EDIT: Thats a cable router (i think), not sure if itd be compatable with the BT service

I am using a Zyxel, it performs far better for me than a previous Netgear, it can be had at eBuyer for about £42 with a free USB Dongle, it has around 90 positive reviews at eBuyer.

Absolute doddle to set up as well.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions-you're all really helpful. I'll check out the netgear one but the Zyxel sounds temtping, especially as it has a USB dongle. I already have wireless built into my laptop, but it would be handy for my partner's computer.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Netgear DG834 & the Netgear DG834G?

I have seen some good prices on ebay and would like to buy one this eveing f possible, but I want to make sure I'm getting the right one. Am I right in thinking one that says it's for ADSL, it will work with BT?

    Thanks again

the dg834 is wired only, 4 ethernet ports, but no wireless, so no good for you

the dg834G is wired and wireless.

Be aware, the original version of the dg834G was silver and quite big, the later versions dg834gv2 v3 etc are white, half the size (about the size of a paperback)
