Sneaky price increases on insurance comparison sites
Morning all,
I just wondered if anybody else has notice this.
I've been doing the "age-old" trawl through the insurance websites getting car insurance quotes and the one that suits my needs best is on GoCompare. I don't have the money to pay for it in one annual payment so I need to use monthly payments which are all outlined on GoCompare's results page which I'm happy with so I click to buy the policy and go through to the insurer's website.
Once there I scrolled down the page checking the terms and conditions and just happened to notice that the actual payments were in oddly small font considering the payments are one of the most important details. Then I noticed that the initial deposit was slightly different to the deposit mentioned on GoCompare's site, so I went back to the GoCompare site and it was at that point that I noticed the monthly payment was different too.
Working it out, there's a difference of £86 between the two!
I can't help but feel they're trying to pull a fast one here and lure you in through the comparison sites and then add a few quid on to the premium in the hope that you won't notice and will just click through to buy the policy without noticing.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm going to call them when their call centre opens at 11am and ask them whats' going on, but surely if they're offering a price on GoCompare, they should have to honour that, otherwise what's the point of the comparison site?!

Historically there used to be lots of problems with this as aggregators used to estimate the price in some cases rather than actually ask the insurer/ broker to provide the price.
Never seen an issue from simply clicking through in recent years, have however seen issues of prices being different if you go through the quote again once you are on the brokers/ insurers site and it recalculates the price when you hit the get quote button even if you dont change anything0
