Laggy iPad mini

Looking for any advice please.
I had a brand new iPad mini for Xmas. I updated to IOS 8.1.2 via wifi, more or less as soon as it was out of the box. Since then it has been really laggy on the keyboard ( more obviously in safari). I have done a reset and reinstalled via iTunes but no change.
I have the same update on iPhone 5s with no problems.
It was from Amazon and it is becoming so annoying I am thinking of returning it unless someone can shed any light!

I guess you tried all the usual stuff (such as a complete reset). The only thing you could try before returning it to Amazon is taking it to Apple Genius bar and see what they say. You'll have to make an appointment before hand though.0
