Declined for a credit card-excellent credit report??
Comments

hi all
I recently got engaged and thought it might work out better for us if I got a credit card to pay deposits etc and pay off before the big day in Mar next year.
Applied for M&S cc with 19 month int free on purchases and was declined.
I currently have a santander and telco cc which are both paid off in full each month, I work 30 hours a week and my take home pay is just shy of £20k.
I checked my credit report on experian and had an excellent score, with 3 positive factors and only 1negative, this being a car finance of £30k taken out in oct. The agreement is in my name but the payment comes out of a joint account with my fianc!.
Is this what has caused this refusal and what are my chances of getting a card?
Hopefully I've given enough info but if you need any more shout

You are planning to get married and you decide before that to take out a car loan for £30k. With the greatest respect I do not think you have your priorities right and considering your income, it is not surprising you have been declined.0 -
I suspect that telco is also a typo so perhaps the OP was still enthusiastically celebrating the new yearWell I did wonder if you made a typo and meant a £3k loan rather than £30K!!
(S)he hasn't been back to clarify the size of the loan yet so we're just guessing. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Well, what with the headiness of oncoming wedded bliss an all, easy to get caught up in the headiness of it all. Thats to be enjoyed and so the OP should enjoy it - it won't last forever!!!
I do think though the OP needs to take a raincheck as it seems she is putting a lot of debt into 'her own name'. When the wedded bliss has dampened, the debt will still be there.Fruit_and_Nut_Case wrote: »I suspect that telco is also a typo so perhaps the OP was still enthusiastically celebrating the new year

you are not fit to travel because you are suffering from
complications of pregnancy or childbirth.
Unless I was to get my doctor to say I shouldn't travel.
Must be extra careful in the next few weeks lol!

It would seem the OP would be of the female variety from a previous post. These days you can never be sure though!!
In any event, I'm hoping the £30k is a typo - but not convinced given the refusal.0 -

Don't want to side track this one but the post was from a thread about OP's pregnant friend cancelling holiday insurance. Snippet from said OP was responding to a point and not declaring her own maternal status!0
