Career Development Loan & credit checks

Any advice welcome! One of my children wants to apply for a Career Development Loan for an aspect of his postgraduate year. Credit rating wise for her - no problem. But as she'll probably need to provide her home address (though arguably not - she's lived away from home, at least during term time, for the past 3.5 years).

We have a chequered credit history - all under control now - but the home address would show up some past debts.

Might this be a problem?

As credit rating is an individual thing - other members of the same family/address don't affect each other. Unless they have a financial relationship (which is only created by entering into joint accounts/credit commitments, and not simply due to being related/living together).
  • Different credit providers use different credit reference agencies who will give different outcomes for eg if you fail a check for a provider who use experian find a provider who uses another agency as you will always fail and this will appear on your credit file. You can get free credit reports from noddle if you wish to check your own.
