Hi, what should I be paying for 3kw system over 2 roofs (SE, SW) with some shading from chimney stacks? Estimated output 2,300kwh/year. CJ Solar recommended microinverters and came to 6.8k, Absolute said put 10 panels on SE roof no microinverter but included iboost for 6.7k. I'm in Leicestershire. Think I can do better than that. Any advice greatly appreciated!

You should be able to get a standard 3kw system without micro-inverters for about 4k.

I am in Northants and my system (4kw) cost just under £5k but that was over 2 years ago.

Why only 3kWp? Has anyone quoted for the likes of 330Wp BenQ or SunPower (same panels I think). They are more expensive but you might get 4kWp instead of 3 for less than 33% increase in price.

Where are the chimneys compared to where the shadow is cast? I spent ages considering shading on my WSW array only to find that in the mornings when the shadow is being cast the production is only a couple of hundred Watts anyway as the panels being lit from behind, i.e. the sun is in the east/south and the panels are facing WSW on a 40 degree sloping roof pitch. As soon as the sun pokes its head round past due south and despite the remnants of the chimney shadow on one or two panels production jumps quickly to max output.

Contrast that with my other array, which is SSE and shadow is cast when the panels are still in full afternoon sun, so causes the output to drop by 90%.

-Sorry I realised I've Hijacked this post, moved my question to a new post -

    Good Afternoon all,

I would really appreciate some opinions please!

I've just been quoted a price for a 4kw 16 panel system and wanted to gauge opinion regarding the installation price.

My house is East Facing with a pitched roof, it'll require scaffolding to install the panels.

16 x 8.33 Eternity Panels (8 on the front of the house - East and 8 on the back - West)
    iBoost hot water generator
Enphase micro inverters (Advised that string inverter is unsuitable due to chimney shading)

Total installed price including VAT £7250

I've asked if this is their best price and they have assured me it is.

Any opinions would be appreciated, thank you.
