sat nav

Happy new year to you all,

I have a TomTom Start 50 as a present, it came with windscreen fixing, I like my satnav on dashboard mount, looked on Amazon they are nearly £9 quid including PP, THE MOUNTING IS ONLY £4.99.

Anyone know where I can buy at the right price, store etc., Halfords don't do them, TT online same price as Amazon,

If I have to pay that much I will, just thought someone on the site here may be able to help.

What about the well known internet auction site?

I bought a TomTom mount which fits into the air vents on ebay.

(I've subsequently bought the app on my iPhone, and so don't use the standalone device any more.)

I used to have that set up too, which I favoured over the dash or screen.
All I miss of the stand alone units is the subscription traffic alerts.
  • Found one at Halfords, under the trade name, SENDAI, that's why I couldn't find it before, £5-00 I'm happy.
    Thank you all.

I don't like a satnav to be mounted on the windscreen nor on the top of the dashboard. For the Jazz I made a small wooden shelf with back support which sits down in a storage tray in front of the gear lever and for our Jag. I attached two Terry-type spring clips to the top of the transmission tunnel which hold the satnav nearly vertical in front of the radio. In both cases quite unobtrusive and close to the cigar lighter socket so no long dangly wires to look untidy. Cost? About £1 each.
  • reeac,

I like more practical modern equipment not a Chippendale table for my car/satnav, yours sounds fine for the horse and cart.
I'm a cabinet maker, I would rather have the real thing for my satnav, it cant be very safe either to have to keep looking down at a satnav, they should be at eye level.

Your eyes are level with the dashboard?

Doesn't sound the safest of arrangements, have you tried a couple of cushions? ;)
  • Oddball,
