Drain Cover

Hi guys,
Need a bit of assistance is getting a drain cover. Please see the pictured of the drain at the back of my house. This has the kitchen sink pipe and i guess it is a dishwasher outlet. Leaves are getting in to the drain .
I did get the leaves out from the metal mesh. I want something to cover this so leaves dont fall on it.
I have been to wickes and b&q and they said to go to a specialist plumber.
I went to screwfix yesterday who sold me a product stating this would do the job. Once I got home and looked closely , I was sold gutter leaf cover so will be havr to go today to return it.
Just wondering what do I need and which shop do I need to go.
I dont really want to call a plumber and pay sky high prices.
There is no overflow or anything at the moment as the leaves are out. But I dont really want to be doing that every few weeks.
Please help if possible.

I bought some wire mesh and made my own, wasn't particularly difficult.
Or you could buy something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Easy-Fit-Leaf-Stopper-Drain-Cover/dp/B002N1B34Q0 -

How did you get the wire mesh to stick?0

Black pipe = sink waste? What is the white pipe then? What does the thing look like when it's not full of water?0

White pipe i think is the dish washer outlet.
When it is not full of water towards the right hand , there is a black metal mesh which gulps the waste water. I dont know the term for it.
So the leaves are getting stuck on this metal grill causing the water to get accumulated.
I am looking for something that is rectangular so the leaves dont fall in and block the water from being disposed.0 -
Why do you need a grill ? why not just put a piece of tin, aluminium or cut some heavy duty plastic and fit that over the entire drain at the top and secure it down, then the leaves wont go into it and you can remove the cover if you ever need to ? It will also be less unsightly.0

I thought that the grill would be better to look.
If i get aluminium sheet , how can i make sure it stays in place and does not move about due to wind.0 -

We use Chicken wire and fold it multiple times and wedge it in. We pull out periodically to clear leaves off the top. We've tried the plastic drain cover but they eventually break and fly away as my driveway is a bit of a wind tunnel.
